Stephen started his commissioning career at the ABC with the AACTA Award-winning War on Waste launching game-changing campaigns to help reduce our waste whilst achieving the highest ratings in the slot for two years. He has followed this up with three more hugely successful series Hawke: The Larrikin and the Leader, Monash and Me: Peter Greste on Australia’s Great Commander and Employable Me which sparked a huge and heartfelt national conversation. Previously, Stephen wrote and directed award-winning films and series for many of the world’s most prestigious broadcasters, including the complex story of how our meat is produced in For the Love of Meat (2016) which followed his previous series about Australia’s seafood, What’s the Catch? (2014), that launched a Senate Inquiry and campaign to change the law regarding seafood labelling, and was nominated for a Rockie Award at the BANFF World Media Festival. Other credits include Stop Laughing, This is Serious (2015) a smash hit series on the history of Australian comedy, How to Save the World a one hour special on climate change for Foreign Correspondent, Outback Coroner, nominated for an Astra Award for Most Outstanding Factual series on Pay TV, AACTA-Nominated Chateau Chunder: A Wine Revolution (2012), The Secret History of Eurovision (2011) and Skippy: Australia’s First Superstar (2009), named as SMH Couch Potato Award for Best Documentary. He likes scuba diving, tennis, mushrooms and dogs.
