Natasha Wanganeen is an actor with a career that began 16 years ago when she appeared, as a young teenager, in her first film Rabbit Proof Fence. That first experience led to a series of roles in iconic Australian film and television productions including Australian Rules (2004), Jessica (2004), Through My Eyes (2004) and Redfern Now (2013). Only this year, Cargo has been released in which Natasha featured alongside Martin Freeman.
Her amazing screen presence was acknowledged as early as 2004 when she received the Australian Film Industry’s Young Actor Award for her role as Mary Simpson in Jessica, when Natasha was just 18 years old.
In the theatre, Natasha has starred in even more ground breaking productions such as Wulamanayuwi and the seven Pamanui, The Shadow King and the incredible Secret River.
Natasha is an inspiration to young actors throughout Australia, she works continuously to improve her craft, to create opportunities for others and to broaden awareness and understanding of the culture and traditions of her people. Natasha is a “first Australian” – in every way!
