Julie’s career in film and television began as an art student making experimental films and as co-founder of the community television broadcaster SCATv where “making television by people who’ve never made television before” was a proud mantra. She has written, directed and produced short films and worked in a variety of roles on set and in production across feature films, documentary and television. Recent Line Producer credits include acclaimed features Rolf de Heer’s Charlie’s Country (Cannes Un Certain Regard, 2014), Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook (Sundance 2014) and the soon to be released I am Mother, starring Hilary Swank.
As co-owner of the company Triptych Pictures since 2013 she is driven by her work as a creative producer. She produced the mystery drama Touch by writer/director Christopher Houghton (2014 Sydney Film Festival, Cannes Cinéphiles Cinema des Antipodes, ManIFF 2015) and the underground festival hit The Dead Speak Back, a surreal mystery by artist & composer Jason Sweeney (AIFF 2013, Perth Revelation, MUFF 2014) and co-produced Matt Bate’s feature documentary Shut Up Little Man! (Sundance 2011, SXSW, MOMA) and Ursula Dabrowsky and Sue Brown’s horror Inner Demon (Sitges 2015, Night of Horror, Fantastic Fest).
More recently Julie has produced work for the multi-award winning YouTubers RackaRacka, twins Danny and Michael Philippou, that includes content for Foxtel Comedy Channel’s The Slot (2018), a 40 minute fake live stream Stunt Gone Wrong (2017) and the 2015 trilogy Versus (93mil views).Back to Speakers
