The 2019 Screen Makers Conference (#SMC19) is fast approaching and with it, some outstanding pitching opportunities return for another year. The annual event provides up-and-coming content creators with the chance to introduce themselves and pitch ideas to industry professionals. We’re keen to see as many high-quality pitches as possible, which is why we have extended the deadline for both one-on-one pitches AND Pitch-o-rama until this Friday!

Short-form scripted or factual web series concepts suitable for ABC iview will be eligible for entry into Pitch-o-rama. Successful applications will meet all of the criteria listed on the Pitch-o-rama page of the Screen Makers Conference website. A broad and diverse range of applications have already been submitted. Following the selection criteria listed on the website is essential for creating a winning pitch and remaining in the running to pitch for the $10,000 in prize money for project funding.

$10,000 in funding isn’t easy to come by, which is why only up to ten applicants will be selected to move forward to the live pitching stage at SMC19. These short-listed entrants will be required to present their concept on stage creatively in front of a live audience.

Though the $10,000 in project funding can only be awarded to one presentation, the remaining short-listed entrants still get to walk away with feedback from industry professionals and network executives.

SMC19 is also proud to offer one-on-one pitching for short-listed conference delegates, thanks to marketplace sponsor Fremantle Media. Allocated into 10-minute time slots, delegates are provided the opportunity to sit down and have a face-to-face pitching session with various marketplace representatives. Further details can be found on the pitching section of the SMC19 website.

It can be tough get a foot in the door within this competitive industry. For this very reason, SMC19 is trying to make the industry as accessible as possible for the next generation of content creators.

The SMC only comes around once a year, and with it, pitching opportunities like Pitch-o-rama and one-on-one pitching. It’s time to make the most of these.

In order to be eligible for Pitch-o-rama or one-on-one pitching, applicants must be registered for FULL SCREEN MAKERS PROGRAM at SMC19.

Applications for Pitch-o-rama and one-on-one pitching close at 5.30pm (ACST) Friday 5 July 2019.

We’ll see you – and your pitches! – at the Screen Makers Conference 2019.
