Peta Astbury-Bulsara (MBA, Adel) has over 18 years of experience in the content industry (TV, online, radio, post-production, IP licensing & film). Peta developed two arms of her career in parallel – in the film and television industries. Over 11 years at the ABC’s International Division, she worked across television and online and had a reputation for creating efficient production methodology with high production values. Peta’s debut independent feature film – the independently financed, low-budget comedy hit The Marriage of Figaro (2009) was released on 19 screens across Australia, screened at London Australian Film Festival 2010, Dungog Film Festival 2010, Jetstar, DVD and iTunes & continues to be broadcast nationally on the Nine Network.
Since leaving the ABC in 2014, Peta produced the comedy pilot Heaps Good Hostel (SBS, 2015), the 6 x 5 min romantic/black comedy series Almost Midnight (ABC iView, 2016) – named in journalist Luke Buckmaster’s 8 of the Best Australian web series (Guardian 13/07/17) and most recently The Heights – 30 x 1/2-hour serial drama for the ABC, produced by Matchbox Pictures in association with Peta’s production company, For Pete’s Sake Productions.
